Safe School in the Digital Age

On 27 November 2024, we helped teachers and principals of primary and secondary schools to better protect school networks from hackers, detect fake news and work effectively with data. The meeting, mutual inspiration and exchange of experience was organized by our Regional Development Agency through EDIH Northeast Bohemia at the Secondary Industrial School in Česká Lípa.

Ethical hacker Pavel Matějíček practically showed how data can be misused and emphasized the importance of security measures such as two-factor authentication or password manager. High school teacher Václav Maněna then explained why critical thinking is key to combating disinformation and taught participants how to verify photos and the identity of sources.

In addition, a Junior Centre of Excellence for Cybersecurity is being established at the event venue, hosted by the Liberec Region. The centre will offer modern educational facilities and new opportunities for the development of IT and cyber security.

Further free workshops on cybersecurity in schools will take place next year in Liberec and Turnov.
